Home Alarm Monitoring in Minnesota

Nighthawk Security monitors home alarm systems in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and across the Twin Cities metro. Your system reports to a UL Listed central station around the clock, and when you have a question, you can call one of the owners directly.

How Home Alarm Monitoring Works

When a door contact, motion sensor, or smoke detector trips, your control panel sends a signal to our central station within seconds.

Within moments, the people on your call list also get an SMS text alert, so they can respond quickly and quietly. The operator who receives the signal can see which sensor tripped and where. If no one responds to the text, they call the people on your call list and send police, fire, or EMS when the alarm is confirmed or no one answers. You can follow the same event in the Total Connect 2.0 app.

Cellular Monitoring Instead of a Landline

Phone companies across Minnesota are retiring copper landlines, and an alarm that depends on one can go silent without warning. Every new Nighthawk installation includes a cellular communicator unless you choose Wi-Fi or Ethernet only.

  • There’s no phone line outside the house for anyone to cut.
  • Battery backup keeps the panel and communicator running through a short power outage.
  • You can arm, disarm, and check status from anywhere in Total Connect 2.0.

Already Have an Alarm System?

If your home has equipment from a previous owner or another company, we can often keep the sensors and connect them to our monitoring. We can take over your burglar alarm system for $169 instead of the $299 installation price, for homes and businesses in Minnesota and Florida. We connect a new communicator to your system, run a full system test, recommend any additions or updates, and provide a yard sign and window stickers. A takeover requires a three-year agreement, with no credit check and no SSN or EIN required. Additional equipment is extra, and monitoring costs the same.

During an on-site evaluation we check the panel, sensors, and communicator and tell you what can stay and what needs replacing. If you’re leaving another provider, see how switching to Nighthawk works.

What a Typical Minnesota System Includes

Every system is planned around the house, but most start with:

  • Door and window contacts on the entry points a burglar would try first
  • Motion sensors in the main hallways and living areas
  • Smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide detection, monitored by the same central station
  • Glassbreak sensors for walkout basements and large windows
  • Video doorbells and cameras, and medical alert buttons for family members, if you want them

24/7 Monitoring from a UL Listed Central Station

Every Nighthawk system reports to a UL Listed, TMA Five Diamond certified central station staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Redundant centers in Florida, New Jersey, and California back each other up, so a storm or outage in one region doesn’t leave your home unmonitored.
